I’m not ok. I’m guessing you’re not ok. This is more than I ever thought we would be faced with all at one time. The influx of stressful images flow into our subconscious and we can’t help but absorb at least some of it. We’ve got the world on our shoulders and it’s easy to forget how to fill our own cup. No gym or yoga studio to help us burn off steam. I was a regular at our local hot yoga club but now I’m left without my perfect environment. All of our external tools for self-care are closed and may not re-open! Heck even when they “open” it’s stressful going in since we are still in the middle of a pandemic. It’s enough to make me crazy!
Here’s something I want to share with you. YOU actually have all the tools YOU need. Just a pair of hands, some warm oil from your pantry, and I like to add dim lighting or music. Optional bath tub but a shower will do. When you place your hands on your own body there is an energy transfer. The best part is that you are the one receiving this energy. You get the gift of love and intention. Self-massage (Abhyanga) is an Ayurvedic method which supports a healthy routine of ritual self-love. The reported benefits of Abhyanga include improved lymphatic circulation, skin conditioning through hydration, muscle and fascia tone, mind-body connection, and supple skin and hair.
It is recommended that you spend at least 15 minutes each day doing Abhyanga however this is often not possible. If I can do it once a week I’m doing pretty good. Click below for an instructional guide I’ve put together to help you get set up for your first Abhyanga self-love escape! Bring on the peace and serenity…before you go crazy 🙂
Peace and love to you all. I wish for a kinder world where we all embrace.
